The first pics show the suprises I got after buying my truck / some with starting firewall / cowl repairs. In one of the last the cowl / windshield lip is solid again with the correct contour.

Please bear with me if my pics don't work - it's my first time!

Thanks to everybody on this forum for tons of helpful info - mine is on the way back from the grave thanks to you guys!

I agree, many if not most would have looked for a better cab. Nice work. I wish I had fab skills like that or any for that matter. LOL

Thanks guys! Here's a few more .... So far it has required 2 cab corners, 2 front to back floor patches (sides), both front floorpans, the windshield patch panel, a cab support, new drivers side vent ... etc.

Overhead patch panel over windshield welded / rough grinded .....

After finishing ....

Windshield installed ...

Floorpans getting stiched up ....

Cab corner ..

Getting closer ... gaskets, etc ....

Fromwhen I was doing the bed - I did the bed / taigate / tail lights first ...

That is great sheet metal work, it takes commitment to save that cab. What thickness of sheet metal did you use, and what did you use to shape it?

I Agree, Most would have just given up on a Cab that Bad...........

Mike - mostly 16 gauge on the cowl areas .....

I dont have any sheetmetal forming stuff - this is my first restoration and I just got my welder 6 months ago ... hopefully that is encouraging to somebody!

I just did the windshield lip one tiny piece at a time using a lot of templates.

Periodically I'd put the windshield up there for a check on the lip and contour.

I like the not afraid to try things aspect. metal work is so much more forgiving then wood work, if you cut it too short, just weld it back together.

Way to go Hoss! I'm like you- I'm makin' a shorty out of my LWB- so I picked up a spare Long bed and have been hackin' the bejeezus out of it. I'm a complete r-tard when it comes to proper sheet metal fab, but with my nads on the table, along with a die grinder and welder....I'll get it done.

Thanks you guys for all the advice and info on the forum. This forum is a treasure trove of info!

To be honest, circumstances forced me to do it this way - it would have definitely been cheaper to buy a good cab.

Like a lot of us I just to build a solid daily driver .... you guys hang in there! Get R done!
