Cool Hello from SoCal!

Hello, I found this site some time last week. And I have to say I love it already. My name is Chris, I am 30 and I live in Riverside, CA. I have recently acquired my fathers 66 1/2 ton. I am in the process of slowly fixing it up the way I want it until I can do a full resto. The truck definitely needs some work, it had a 2 inch body lift on it with some old trailer wheels and 32's and lots of rust. It has a 350 in it that my father and I built over 15 years ago. It has been sitting since so it has less then 500 miles on it. I have already lowered it 3 up front and 4 in the rear. Also removed the body lift for a total of 5 and 6 from were it sat before. I have purchased new floor panels, fender tips, ball joints, tie rods and all new rubbers. I just need to install the sheet metal and rubber now (rubber after the Blitz Black paint job and white interior), and tune up the engine a little.

I am sure you will be seeing lots of questions from me since I love to absorb new info. I can through my first one out there now: How would you sugeest filling in all the molding holes along the side of truck? Oh.. and how would I install a 63 grill on my 66?

Here are some pics of my project for now:

Re: Hello from SoCal!

Chris, I would bet that the 63 grille would bolt right into the 66 core support.
The holes may even be pre drilled. If not just line up the grille in the opening and mark the holes, then drill them through the support. Make sure your wires and regulator are out of the way and you should be fine. The headlight wires should plug right in and 63 and 66 had the turn signals in the hood so no issues there. Good luck and post up pics when done. The original grilles were white painted or polished metal (don't think they were chrome) with the Chevrolet letters in black. Some letters may have been red deponding on the color of the truck but I am not completely sure on that. Atleast with the 66 you got the 12 bolt rear end, the old Eaton corporate rear ends are getting hard to find. Chris in Alta Loma (about 15 miles west of you)
