71-72 Chevy leaf spring differential

I am building a 67 SWB C10.
I bought it with a 5 hole suspension already in place.
The rear is leaf springs.
It used to be a 2 piece drive shaft but now is one piece.
The problem is that the drive shaft comes very close to the passenger side of the crossmember where the trailing arms would attach if it were a trailing arm suspension.
The rearend is correct for 71-72 rear leaf suspension.
The pinion is about 1 1/4 inches offset towards the passenger side.
I will have to narrow the rearend to get the pinion in the center of the frame rails.
Has anyone run in to this before?
If so, what did you do to get the drive shaft straight?

it is supposed to be like that.
You need some angle in the drive shaft, otherwise the U-joints would wear real fast.
Welcome to the board from central Ohio... you got any photos of your project?
