Cost of batteries!!!
Somebody stole my battery last night and I just found out why; AutoZone wants $80 plus a $12 core charge!(plus 8 1/4% tax) = over a hundred bucks- for their cheapo brand. How could this be? I paid $40 a couple years ago,if that for the one that was taken. Incredible.

Re: Cost of batteries!!!
It is probably a combination of the lead price going up....and fuel prices affecting everything in retail. It sucks, everything is up

Did you check Costco?
That's where I've gotten my last few batteries.

Re: Cost of batteries!!!
A few months back I bought an AC Delco battery from our local AC Delco warehouse. I called about a week earlier and was quoted a price,so when I went to pick up a battery it was about $20.00 more. They said the prices went up I believe almost 20% at the beginning of that week. They said all battery manufactures were having price increase starting then. I've noticed they were right too.

Re: Cost of batteries!!!
Let me vent. Have you seen the price of the optima batteries? I've heard lots of people singing their praises. Just out or curiosity price one at the local auto store at around $160. I only paid $800 for my truck. Something is really wrong here.

I am running Odyssey batteries now, in my crawler and my tow rig. Edit: And they are certainly not cheap. I figured if they're good enough for a Stryker, they work for me! Last edited by FormerMember; 05-12-2008 at 04:22 AM. |

Wow. Sold my old batteries at the scrapper today. I didn't get anywhere near $7 apiece for them. More like $2 each.

This has become a real problem for fishermen here in Tx. The Trucks are targeted at the boat ramps where the dope fiends know they can see ya coming back to your truck. Certain models are more prone to be taken, but pretty much any new truck is a target. It's gotten so bad around here that I won't use a public boat ramp anymore. I'd rather pay a marina the $5-7 launch fee. At least there, there is most always someone around watching over stuff. Jay

Re: Cost of batteries!!!
ed... and anyone else... the NAPA batterys.. .esp there cheapest ones, are generally not a good product. This is why you'll be hard pressed to find a shot that uses them... even though 95% of the parts they buy come from NAPA.
