Your shaft will need to be longer if you moved from 6 cyl position to v8 position. I have my 383 set in on 6 /250 stands, & that moved it back about 3 1/2" from factory v8 position. Do you have the short tail 400T ( 4" tail)?

The 6 cyl stands will put it real tight to the firewall. Ilike to drill the holes in the stands to 5/8 ", & also slot the holes in the trans crossmember to give a little "fudge factor". the HEI fits but its pretty tight! good luck......crazy AL

No, it wont slide in that far, it needs to be shortened. Its about 3 1/2 inches different(give or take a little). also, if you had a 350 hydro or a 3 speed stick & changed to the 400 turbo (short tail), the 400 is about 11/16 inch longer. Good luck....crazy AL
