I was watching Truck-U this am and saw a super cool, huge, quiet compressor, click HERE. When they finally fired it up, it was really quiet, they were talking (not yeling) on camera standing near the compressor, the garage pak piping is also cool & easy.

Yeah I did.... that is a sh*t pot full of money, but here is an idea, since that thing can supply air to a small country, get all of the neighbors to pitch in and pipe it around the nieghborhood....... (?)

I remember seeing that show a few weeks ago, and I definitely added it to the wish list... yeah right! (not with that price tag)

problem is is that it is three phase, and most people don't have 3 phase in their homes, and it would cost us like $5,000 to have it run up our driveway

It is a different type of electricity than standard, standard is 2 phase, it is what your fridge and tv and everything else runs off of. Only big commercial units have 3 phase, because only a few things need them. I live in the country with a 400 yd driveway, and to have it dug in up to our yard would cost like $5k

If you really need 3 phase you can get a phase converter. Not real cheap but a lot cheaper than running a 3 phase service. I have wired a couple of print shops that did not have it and the presses needed it. Works fine.

Houses use single phase.There is no 2 phase.

So is that compressor two or three pahse? Or is the above listed three phase now two since house's are one phase and does that delete the three phase or is there only one phase period?

There is single and three phase, no 2 phase. House and everything is single, some commercial things are 3 phase, like that Air compressor in your link

Thanks Shane! I saw that, but as I mentioned I know nothing about electrical and had no idea what 3ph power meant. Thank you for clearing that up... Honestly, I don't know why I was asking.... just an "inquiring mind" thing I guess.

I know some people have also used pvc pipe. Which is what I was thinking of using. Anyone here done that?

I've never used that pipe, but watching them instal in on Truck-U it looked pretty easy, but TV can be deceiving.
The cool thing is, you can order an entire kit to your specs. I've done PVC before and it worked great, I don't know the cost difference but it may be well worth it for the time saved.

I would not buy anything under 20hp in a rotory screw, the price to maintain, and run them is very expensive as opposed to a piston unit. You can buy a 7.5hp piston for alot less.

I had a mixer once when I owned a pizza store,, used 3 phase,, the converter necessary to run it was cheaper than running 3 phase service., but firing that thing up was LOUD... would defeat the purpose of a quite compressor...
