Anyone have any experience with these? Are these a decent tire? They seem reasonably priced.

I've had a fair bit of experience with them, in the Army and now as a Civvy.

They suck, for the most part.

which tires though? The older "ground hawg" looking one's aren't much for highway (although I did 70MPH in Germany!) but the newer radial type (toyo looking tread)might be ok...

Most of the ones for sale are the GoodYear.

Right... which is the tires I talked about. They generally suck for everything but holding up a rig.

I run the 36x12.50x16.50 on my 72. They are OK. They do well in the mud and snow and do just about as well as a bias TSL on the highway. They flat spot pretty bad in the winter if you only drive the truck once a month though.

I run the 37x12.50's and for the money you can't beat them, I can get them all day with 75-90% tread for $350 a set.

Hmn, I may have to revisit this.

I guess what I should really ask, what do you plan to do with the truck?

My opinion came from a life in the Army, putting Hummers into tough spots, then afterwards running these on rock crawlers and other light weight rigs (think cut up Jeeps).

Those are the newer styles. Thanks for the link. I forgot about those. I know some of my friends in the Army are using Super Swampers.

I'm not sure where everyone is finding them. When I was up in Virgina I saw several trucks around base that had them. I see them on ebay and craigslist occasionally.

I believe I'm running the same tires as jkade. Mine are the Goodyear Wrangler GSA tires. I picked them up used, with about 80% tread left on them for $100 when I was living in socal. I have no complaints about this tire, but then I have only done street driving with them. I put 1000 miles or so on them in socal them loaded my burb up and drove it to sacramento (400 miles) on them with no problems. In a week I'm driving the burb to Phoenix (760 miles) and I expect no problems on these tires again.

Well they are $350 a set and I get them from a guy that gets them out of Texas. The ones you are looking at are bias ply and I wouldn't care for them. The ones I have are the MT's and they ride as good as a set of bfg at's in my opnion. Bias ply tires are old tech. in my book, the ones I have do really good on the trails and in the mud. I guess I have sold about 5 or 6 sets and I have had no complaints. Good luck.

Mine are the wrangler MT's they used to make them back about 8 years ago before the MTR replaced them for the public. The MT's are all I would run on my z71 in a 305/70/16 until they quit making them.

I agree cheap is good in this case. I cannot figure why the military pulls these tires off. I have some that are 06 and 07 year models on my truck
