I have a 1993 2500 Suburban 4x4 it has power assist abs brakes with a big ugly leaking brake control unit under the hood.
I want to completey restore the entire brake system and wanted to remove that unit and the snake pit of brake lines going to and from it and not put it back in and run no abs. Just a nice clean power assist brake system with all new lines, calipers, drums, shoes, pads etc. Has anyone done this or know if it can or cant be done or have any do's and dont's info for me to guide me thru this brake system overhaul I will post a pic tomorrow of the brake unit Im wanting to remove.

Re: Brake help needed
May I point out that you're alot safer with abs, especially in a heavy 3/4 ton burb. You may look cleaner, but that doesn't matter when your dead.

Another thing to consider is the legal aspect of it. If you were ever in an accident, and someone found out that safety equipment has been tampered with, you may be liable.

Re: Brake help needed
I did some research on this when I had my 96 1500. If yours is only RWAL (Rear wheel anti lock), then there is ways around the Antilock, but if yours is the 4wheel ABS, then I do not think you can work around it. The ABS is tied into the main computer. I just don't remember what year they went from RWAL to ABS. I thought it was 93/94.
