Two tone black and silver paint
Does anyone have any pictures of a 81 to 87 short bed in black and silver. My truck is red now and the painter is coming over tomorrow to give me an estimate to paint my truck. The cheap way is to keep it red but I think I would like to paint it black and silver. Any opinions. I was thinking silver on the roof and bed rails and black on the bottom. Or black on the top and silver on the bottom. Thanks

Heres my 83 short bed
http://s299.photobucket.com/albums/m...t=100_0711.jpg Not the greatest pic. This was after i replaced the smashed door. I found the door at the junk yard and it almost matched up prefect with the paint on my truck. Last edited by C10 the GEM; 05-14-2008 at 05:22 AM. |

Re: Two tone black and silver paint
Here is mine. Its the red and silver, but instead of changing the red I changed the silver. I wanted to get a brighter more matalic red but I didn't want the interier to clash.

Re: Two tone black and silver paint
how about red on the bottom and silver on the top, from the top body line up?
then you wouldn't have to take the truck completely apart if you dont want to

Re: Two tone black and silver paint
Chilton's idiot book has black on the top, silver (or gray) on the bottom. When I "eventually" paint mine, thats where I'm going.
Here's a linky: Chiltons 80-87 full-size BTW: Nice red/silver 83!

Re: Two tone black and silver paint
Send it over to photoshop and see what they can do with it. That way you can see what it will look like.

Re: Two tone black and silver paint
I know. Thats not the bad part. He bought a f%*d. I couldn't belive it. He had to get an extended cab. He says he don't miss it at all. It was giving him small problems all the time.

Re: Two tone black and silver paint
I would agree to that. I like the black and silver, But if your wanting to cauch someone eye red and silveer would do it especially if you get the right red and silver combo. Try the new dodge red and silver.

Re: Two tone black and silver paint
This thread is making me want to put a black stripe down the side of my truck. I would have it follow the body line instead of going above it a couple of inches like the factory jobs.

Re: Two tone black and silver paint
Destro, my brother's '82 is a 4" suspension lift with 33X12.5X16.5 BFG's. The wheels are 8 1/4 wide steelies. The truck was originally a 6.2 diesel but now is a 350. He misses getting 23 mpg!
