Caprice Rear Disk on C10 ?

I am going with the rear disk setup on my build . I have read post about using caprice rotors , but no one has said anything about having to turn down the axles . I have a set of 5 on 5 wheels but center hole is smaller . I want to know if yall turn the ends down ? I am going to re-drill the axles from 6 lug to 5 on 5 . I am going to use caprice calipers and rotors . 1 more ? I cant find a parts house thats got the seals for the rear end either any ideas ?

Yes you have to get them turned down. Make sure you take your rotor with you. Not sure where you can get seals.

6 lug rotors do have to be turned down the centers are just so big the rotor will not slide on.

The factory 5 lugs however do not require this modification.

Re: Caprice Rear Disk on C10 ?

I measured my drop spindles are they are not a 5 on 5 . I went to get rear 94-96 caprice rotors are they are not 5 on 5 . is this correct ? I am going to use my 6 lug but have them drilled and turned down , any thing else I need to do ? I found out that seals are the same from 64-91

no they are 5 on 5 both the caprice/impala and the c10 i have both vehicles and the wheels will bolt on ether one. check on your measurements if measuring across the studs it will measure 4 3/4 because you are going at and angle and not strait across.

Re: Caprice Rear Disk on C10 ?

I would go with new Moser axles if I had to do it over. $300 bucks and your done. Hell I spent around 150 getting them redrilled and another 75 for the machine work and I still have old wore out axles. If you have a little extra money save yourself the the time and get new axles.

Re: Caprice Rear Disk on C10 ?

I sent my axles to moser. I believe they charged me around $130. to plug, redrill, and insert new studs and turn down the center section. Thats the way to go IMO.

I used moser for the redrill but was unaware of having to get the centers turned so I ended up doing it locally. Hell if you got all that done with shipping that is cheap.

Re: Caprice Rear Disk on C10 ?

I had '85 Chevy Silverado rims, 5X5 bolt pattern, on my 1996 Impala SS for several years. Painted black. Caprice is the same lug pattern... People thought it was a cop car.
