Question about Proportional Valves

I've swap to disk brakes in the front and I'm wondering if anyone knows if other/later years proportional Valves will work. My disk setup is from a 71/72 truck. I was thinking of going to the boneyard and seeing if there's any early model vans, 73-87 trucks or even the early model Silverado's (90's). Or are we specific to the 71'/72' parts. Thanks.

Re: Question about Proportional Valves

not a brake expert, but i think that the gm prop valve is pretty universal given the fact that they are all off of front disc rear drum vehichles, stay away from 4 wheel drum (dont have a prop valve)and 4 wheel disc vehichles (different), i personally would feel comfortable using a 73-87 prop valve, and would probably stay away from the newer prop valves, make sure to stay away from anything with abs. i just picked up a new universal GM prop valve for $60 at a swap meet from one of the bigger brake companies

Re: Question about Proportional Valves

Different years may work a long as U keep front disk P valve only donor. Another thing to consider is the hard line hookup from master & front/ rear supply lines. Remember your talking brakes keep safety in mind.
