Smile Broken ground cable

I recently purchased a 1991 k2500 plow truck. The problem i an having is the main braided ground strap on the back of the pass side cylinder head is broken and just hanging there and I cannot see where it was mounted to the fire wall. Any pics of where it mounts would help.

Re: Broken ground cable

I recently found out I have the same problem on my 89 Silverado, so I'll be watching this thread. I also have a ? that relates, can it be replaced with a ground wire from a parts store, or does it have to be that braided flat cable? Thanks in advance.

Re: Broken ground cable

that ground goes to a long stud there on the firewall just behind the motor , its either metric or a size 10 , i cant remember which . as for using a differnt wire , as long as you go with a 10-12 gauge copper wire you should be ok

Re: Broken ground cable

The wire does not have to be an exact match but the braided un-insulated wires are very flexible.

Use a wire that is large enough to be able to carry as much current as the original.

Here is a photo of where the braided ground connects to the firewall on a 1993.
