need help finding rear carpet holddown.
Like the title says, I need a rear carpet hold down. This is the piece in the back that also has a strip of rubber on it that presses against the tailgate. I'm getting all new interior in my blazer and my old hold down is not nice enough.

Re: need help finding rear carpet holddown.
HotRod, I have an option for you to consider.........
To the best of my knowledge, nobody makes reproduction carpet holddown strips. But, here is something that looks almost exactly like them and you can find without too much trouble......... A friend of mine at YEAR ONE in Braselton, GA brought me an UNDRILLED STAINLESS STEEL bed-strip that is used for pickup truck beds in CHEVYs through the mid-sixties. This bed-strip is made to go between the WOOD SLATS in the truck bed ( MOST of the time you see these , they are PRE-DRILLED---BUT, they can be found UN-DRILLED) They are about 6 ft. long , so you would cut them down to size and drill holes using your old one as a template. They look SO CLOSE to the original MOST people would not know that they NOT original style !!! I found the ruibber gasket at OBSOLETE CHEVROLET PARTS in Nashville, GA. They even have the raised "rib" to allow the rubber gasket to stay in place under the rib. I don't have a picture to share, but, possibly in a few days I'll get one posted here...... Good luck, Blazester |

Re: need help finding rear carpet holddown.
I'm having a hard time picturing how the rubber attaches to the trim. I look forward to pictures.

Re: need help finding rear carpet holddown.
Here are some pics of the "alternative" strip you can use if you can't find a good used original. Again these are being made for mid-sixties wood pick-up truck beds and are available UNDRILLED. I got mine thru YEAR ONE , but, I'm sure there are many places to find them. They are 8 ft. long .
They are also about 1/4" wider, but, only Blazer fanatics would possibly see a difference once they are installed !! As for the rubber gasket.......just glue it up under the ridge of the trim....no problem Hope you like the option...... Blazester Dave |

Re: need help finding rear carpet holddown.
Thanks for the pictures, I think I'll give them a call on Monday since I don't think I will be able to find anything original that nice. Do you know the approximate cost? Were you able to order only one strip?

Re: need help finding rear carpet holddown.
I just jumped on to www.lmctruck.com and located the strips you are looking for...............
Click on the '60-'66 Chevy truck catalog and go page 20...........there's a good picture of the bed strips there. Make sure you see figure 3 . Below in the details you will see figure 3 says " no bolt holes, cut to fit" !!! They sell them by individual strips and the polished stainless steel in 77" is only $20.00 !!! What a deal !!! LMC Part # is 38-7555 My friend at YEAR ONE special ordered them for me ( I'm NOT 100% sure they normally stock them) I know other truck parts suppliers must have them too. Keep truckin' Blazester Dave |

Re: need help finding rear carpet holddown.
Also you can get one from a 91 down suburban and cut it to fit, that is what I did to mine back when it had carpet.

Re: need help finding rear carpet holddown.
Please forgive me for stirring up a nearly 3 year old thread but I know most of you guys are still on the site. I was able to locate LMC part #38-7555 (now on pg. 22 of the 60-66 GM Truck catalog). Still $20 for a 77" long strip. Great!
My question is about the seal. Do you use LMC part #38-6963, Tailgate Seal - Lower, priced at $25, on pg. 15 of the 67-72 catalog? HotRodHomi - did you glue it in place? Or was it another seal? Second question - Can you use the same bed strip (#38-7555) to hold down the front of the carpet where it steps down, just behind the front seats? Thanks guys! When I moved I tossed my trim in the garbage assuming someone repopped them. |

Re: need help finding rear carpet holddown.
I bought one but I didn't end up using it. I went with a custom interior instead. it's still in the garage somewhere. It looked great.

Re: need help finding rear carpet holddown.
get a piece of rubber made for a garage door. it will have a 45 bend in the front edge. you can play with. If you search older posts. I told another member about it and he posted some good pics. probably a better seal than the OEM

Re: need help finding rear carpet holddown.
To All: A Big Thanks for the clever solution to an obsolete part. I am finishing up on the interior in my 71 2WD Jimmy & I was agonizing about what to do for my rear carpet hold downs.
Just another testimonial to the power of this awesome resource!
