box parts interchangeability
hi i'm looking to build a short/fleet/steel bottom bed for my truck and currently have a long/fleet/wood bottom. can i reuse the bed front? can't think of the technical term. I'm guessing I just need to either add a lip higher or cut the existing and raise it. also i shouldn't have any trouble with the wheel tubs should i?
thanks, Dave |

The tubs are the same. As for the head gate, they are different. I have heard of an adapter or something to goes from a steel floor to a wood floor, but you want to go the opposite way so I am not sure about that.

Re: box parts interchangeability
I went from a steel bed to a wood bed and had to change the front bed panel. I know that they sale an adapter for steel to wood, but I have not scene one for wood to steel. So you will need to buy the front bed panel for a steel bed, or raise yours. If I can remember correctly, the wood floor front panel has round holes and the steel front panel has square holes for the bolt heads. Go to mar-k.

I got all my stuff from mar-k quality parts. You can get online instructions on how to put a swb wood bed back together. I know that your going the steel route, but it gives you the measurements for width, how many cross members to use, and step by step assembly of putting the bed back together.
