1972 C30 Lug count?
How many lugs are on the 67-72 C30's? I want to get some new rims on one when I get it, need to know the lug count beforehand.

No, I mean 8-lug? 6-lug?

Re: 1972 C30 Lug count?
I worked on a 72 Gmc 3500 a guy I knew had that had 10 bolt wheels on it,the same bolt pattern my C60 had but with 18 inch wheels. The norm is 8 bolt of course but I thought that was weird anyone ever see that before? The guy had aflatbed with a big hobart diesle welder on it but originaly it had a big box body on it and belonged to a furniture store.

Re: 1972 C30 Lug count?
I was going to say something about the higher GVW 1 tons, but thought it was confusing enough trying to figure how we got 32 lugs out of 8 on each wheel.
I`ve rarely seen this,but there were 3500s with the 5 & 10 lug count.

Re: 1972 C30 Lug count?
I was sooo close to "doing the math", I even had it typed out....but for some reason, I let the guy slide. Then 5 minutes later John does it.
Must have been the "Forum Staff" thing.....Didn't want to be the "staff-hole" I guess? Now that you mention it, I have seen the 5-lug versions. The studs/nuts are huge on those though. Inch maybe? |

90's 3500HD trucks were set up the same way, with 5 lugs up front and 10 rear.

Re: 1972 C30 Lug count?
At that time, the only answer on the board was 32, so the "math" only needed the 4 wheels.

Re: 1972 C30 Lug count?
My trucks have 36.I keep 4 in the glovebox. That way,if I lose 8 from one wheel I can use those 4 along with 1 from each of the other 3 wheels which leaves me with 7 on each wheel totalling 28.
I hope this helps clear any confusion.(I`m a staffhole)

Re: 1972 C30 Lug count?
I have a 7 lug wheel on one corner of the longhorn.
I've been meaning to get to that... for 4 or 5 years now. Anyone seen the stock 7 lug wheels on some of the ford trucks? |

Re: 1972 C30 Lug count?
Yeah, yet another "better idea" FlOoReD has come up with.About as ingenious as going to a metric lug spread pattern so the ageless practice of switching wheels and tires from one old work truck to another could be halted. Thanks for helping the poor working man,Ford.
