Another Iron on the Fire.

Oh yeah I hear about a small window cab worth lookin at. James, who is five and my son, get off work and out of school and are going to check out a 71 C/50 that I am just dreaming about turning into a 67 cab. My co-pilot quickly succumbes to a hard day of Kindergarten "Play Day." Out like a light with a low back 67 seat on a ten mile posted as a 35MPH hilly cornered road. Bummer, Sorry bobble head. We get there and meet Jim. Very nice guy. He likes tractors and dump trucks.

Back to another Iron in the fire. Small back window melted on the passenger side to the point of desinigration. I look around and easily stick my hand through the passenger floor over 16 inches inward from the weatherstrip. I drove my 67 to go look at it so that I could compare. It would have worked with exception of the roof marker lights. I gues you could fill, but the fire was devistating. OK I am back to fixing what is left. Look for yourself. A 70 cab with small rear glass going to..............

For your viewing displeasure. One melted 71 C/50.

Re: Another Iron on the Fire.

I am in Boonville. This beast is 11 miles up 87 and past Boonsborogh. Nice, I found my 350 to be sucking lots of gas to get there and back. I'm taking the vw van to collect my buy.

I will look. It very well might be melted as half of right side of truck is. Maybe a gauge survived. I was linda centered on the cab and missed a few points as a 'Hunter" I will call him back before he hacks it for me.

Re: Another Iron on the Fire.

Not trying to rain on your parade, but the cab on the C-40's - C-60's are way different than a pickup. They look similiar, but they will not swap out without a lot of modification. I always though they were the same, but after looking really comparing them both on my '67 C-30 and my '67 C-50 wrecker the entire firewall, the rockers, and where the fenders mount are totally different. The firewall has a much bigger recess for engine clearance. You would have to make mounts for the fenders and the rockers are not the same.

Re: Another Iron on the Fire.

Even if the bezel and gauges are melted the metal tins inside are worth a little.... unless they melted too!

Hey no parade here. No insult taken. I thought I would compare also. Thanks for the comparison. It does lead me to believe that I must repair mine. That fire thing really changes metal. Fire needs oxygen to burn and metal needs it to rust. Mix the two and you just ruined a cool truck. The reason that this truck in pics is dead is from a welder. Be careful.

I didn't think you would take it in bad way, but you never know sometimes! I was just giving you a heads up, because Lord knows I've bought a bunch of stuff over the years that I thought would work that didn't!

Re: Another Iron on the Fire.

I do appreciate the heads up. I will continue my search for the short bed and short frame from 67 on down. My cab will have to make due as it matches the frame and glove box. Running fine @ $.80 a mile. David
