I always tried to drive faster with the vent windows turned all the way out.

its easier to deal with the heat than blow that $4 a gallon gas mileage that our trucks are known to get!

If you have a vinyl seat, carry a bottle of water with you and DRENCH yourself...lol just kidding.
Think of how hot it would feel outside after driving with the AC on.

Re: 100 degrese outside, 120 in the truck.
I live in the north. The warmest it has gotten so far this year is 72. It stays nice all summer and only gets hot for a week or two. Sure the winter is super long with an average of 300 inches of snow, but its ok.
When I live in Charleston, I didnt have AC in the car for the most part. I worked outside on a flightline willed with cargo jets, loading them with cargo. So I was used to being quite hot. Between enlistments living in Nebraska I worked in a factory that was 80 in winter and 130+ in summer, so 100 felt rather chilly at times... You get used to it. If you dont like no AC in your car buy a pos econobox that has it. Or stop being a wimp. j/k |

My DD has A/C, but it's a full size van. It takes forever to cool it down enough to make a difference. It's basically useless, unless you're hitting the interstate for at least a 40 mile trip. In town, forget it, you'll arrive at your destination sweating due to having the windows up hoping the AC will cool ya down. Climb out of the van and people look at ya like an idiot for having your windows up! Niether of my trucks that run and drive have A/C. One way to deal with it would be to find a donor parts truck and switch all the stuff over to your ride. They also make an aftermarket AC kit for the trucks to "retrofit" into these. Get out your wallet tho, it'll cost ya.

If it is 100 outside, I highly doubt that it is "only" 120 inside....Gee how helpful is that?

Re: 100 degrese outside, 120 in the truck.
I agree Longhair. When I still had my 2001 Neon and it would touch 100F outside, the inside thermometer would error out. BTW, it could read to 150F. The only reason it would error out is because it went too high (or too low. It only read down to -45F).

Re: 100 degrese outside, 120 in the truck.
mount up a bumper to bumper pipe rack on top of the truck and load it up with something light like pvc or thin plywood, something to block the sun. You'd have your own mobile shade tree.
...that said a rear slider helps quite a bit.

Re: 100 degrese outside, 120 in the truck.
The sliding rear window is a good way to go. You got lots of air without all the wind noise. My current truck doesn't have one though, and I really prefer the look of the regular rear glass.
My truck has A/C, but shortly after I bought it, it seemed like all the freon leaked out so I took off the compressor and lines. One day I'm going to get a small Sanden compressor, have some customs lines made, and fill it with R134A and have my A/C back. |

Re: 100 degrese outside, 120 in the truck.
I've got no A.C. either up here and there are times when I'll got out to get into my Burb and it's like opening up a blast furnace and stepping inside. I've been thinking about ordering up a couple of these for it.
