Carpet strip help.
Can someone show me how the carpet strips mount? They have a little channel built in them is the carpet to be mounted inside the strip or does the strip just mount on top of the carpet? Also are the front and rear strips different?

Re: Carpet strip help.
I am guessing that both of the hold downs I have are for the rear. I m assumeing theres a little rubber seal that goes in the groove and seals up agianst the tailgate?.. Does it install sound deading material, carpet, and then hold down with seal on top?

Re: Carpet strip help.
And one last question. Which way do the side hold downs go on? Is the open channel side go towards the tail gate? I am assuming that the rubber gate seal runs all the way from 1 side hold down to lower hold down and then back up the other side hold down?

Re: Carpet strip help.
The vertical side pieces should be rotated 180° from where you have them:

Re: Carpet strip help.
You have the same two strips that mine came with.........At least in '72 they were both identicle front and rear.
The rubber tucks in the strip on the open side and faces the tailgate just like the side strips do in the previous response. Just no rubber strip needed in the front. They "help" seal the tail end from fumes and noise..... I found the rubber strip/seal rather hard to find, BUT, ended up locating the rubber through OBSOLETE CHEVROLET PARTS in Nashville, GA. Later......Blazester |
