steering column install
Ok I'm sure this has been covered many times, but I can't find anything. I need pics of a steering column installed in a 67 - 72 non auto truck. Preferably under dash. I got the mount in the firewall, but what holds the column to the dash, what keeps it from flopping around?
Thanks Erik

There is a bracket that looks like part #2 in the picture in this thread. This picture is of a bigger truck and the bracket is a little different shape but at least you can get an idea of what you are looking for. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...column+bracket I just took one of these brackets off of a truck yesterday. It's too late to do it tonight but I can take a picture of it and post it in the morning if you want me to. LockDoc

Re: steering column install
The column tube has a square cut hole that fits into a tab on the brake/clutch pedal bracket. Then the "half clamp" in the pic here bolts to the brake/clutch pedal bracket. This holds the column in place. Then the large plate bolts to the brake/clutch pedal bracket and then the smaller piece attaches to the dash and acts as a trim piece. I do not have a pic of it installed, but if you need one after reading this, PM me and I'll get a pic tomorrow. If you do not have these pieces, I do have a some that have been blasted, primed & painted with the correct bolts.

Re: steering column install
Thanks you guys. Botietruck That half clamp bracket is the one I was looking for. I should have it laying around on the bench somewhere. I remember seeing it, but I took the truck apart 1 1/2 years ago and forge somethings lately. I am using the ebrake handle from a 67 so that should replace the big plate looking bracket. Thanks LockDoc for the link to that picture I saved that to my files for later when I am sure I will need it again.
