Looking at a complete TBI motor (w/accy) to swap into my 71 that has factory AC. Anybody swapped in the factory pancake style AC compressor on these TBI motors?

Any compressor will work if you get the manifold hoses on it. But, the pancake style aren't meant to be ran all the time like your 71 compressor. I'd change the system over to a cycling clutch.

What can be done to a factory system to make the pancake compressor work better. How would the pancake work with a Vintage air setup. I'm still undecided on which to use, but I want to stay with the pancake style comp. that the serpentine setup uses.

To use one with the factory a/c, you could do a POA eliminator to get the cycling clutch feature. As far as Vintage Air, I'd call them and ask.
There's a bracket set out there somewhere that lets you keep your serp setup and run a Sanden compressor, I just don't remember where I saw it. Maybe Old Air in Ft Worth??

I 've always wondered if they made a bracket to fit a sanden ( vintage air type ) compressor to the factory serpintine belt drive . That would be a great seup IMO.

Classic Air has an adapter thats mates there lines to the r-4 compressor, but the sanden is probably better right?
