Rear Differential Swap and Gearing Question??

I have a 67 GMC that Rod helped me decode the VIN as a V6 and standard trans. It currently has a 350 with a 350 Turbo.

The gearing is wrong for the trans and am debating on getting it regeared or swap the rearend from something comparable. As far as I can tell it's the stock 12 bolt with leaf springs.

Any comments or suggestions welcome.

I could give you a shorter version, but this website should explain things pretty well; how to determine your gear ratio.

Re: Rear Differential Swap and Gearing Question??

you gotta know what you heve before you know where you need to go.
A lot of people will say a 3.73 is fine (which you probably have) however, if you have a 3.07 in there, and it's still too low for you, then you may lose a lot of money to get no where.

Re: Rear Differential Swap and Gearing Question??

Hard to tell from photo, but the standard axle on 67 GMC should be a dana 44. The came in all sorts of ratios from 3.07 to 3.54 to 4.11.
