master cylinders

I just called CPP to order a new master cylinder for my truck build. I wanted to order the CP31500. Sounds like a good piece, and since it can be used with both rear drums and discs, figured it would be good since I have drums now but will later swap out to rear disc. Problem is, they only make the chrome versions now, and that wouldn't be bad, cept I don't have any chrome on my truck at all. It seems pretty stupid to me to have only one chrome part on the truck. Sooooo, my question is, does anyone know where I can find one of the original CP31500's? Or even the CP31500-P is a polished unit, not too much bling on it. The CP31500-C is just too much chrome for what I'm doing.

are you running a booster? I used a master from a 70-72 truck, inexpensive and works great. I can get you a part number if you want.

If you dont mind paying for the chrome.......a can of spray paint would fix it up to match whatever you want!!

Thanks for the replies guys. I hate to pay $200 for the chrome only to paint it, but it is an option. I was looking at the CPP one for the flexability of running disks or drums on the rear. The Wilwood one won't do that, I don't think. If it does, I definately be interested. Was hoping someone had a line on them I could get.

Well, another option is to use a master cylinder spec'd for a 19701-1972 C10 - it will work with either drums or discs and a new replacement from your local parts house shouldn't cost more than $50.00. You will need a proportioning valve specific for either the drums or discs though.

So the stock replacement for these years will work with drums or discs? That sounds real good to me. If I get an adjustable proportioning valve (like the wilwood one I run on my stock car) I can adjust for either the drums or the discs with one valve. Hmmmm.... sounds like a good option.

You can also just use a late model truck master cylinder. They are cheap. I used a manual proportioning valve and gages so I know the pressure split. I have rear discs so manual settings allow me to get all 4 wheels to lock up together.

Tr65, thats a cool set-up. I was curious what accesory set-up you're running. Driver side serp alternator?

Protrash,

It is an aluminum serpentine belt system I got on evilbay for $100 (3 machined billet pulleys). Worked out nice.
(Measured the belt length with a string, looked it up in Gates catalog)

I think they went to a dual pot in 67. Just look it up with or without power brakes. It should bolt right up.. http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductL...pe=230&PTSet=A It dosn't give any info on weather is it for a power brake booster. Your local parts house should have them though.
