I was drooling (yes again

) and saw that the oil pressure gauge was liquid filled. Are the other gauges (other than the speedo and tach) the same way? I realize that they're better and more accurate gauges with the liquid filled. I also noticed that the 4 smaller gauges have a silver? ring around the front. Did the cut outs you make on the bezel actually go inside of the rings or were these able to be taken off? I'm going to a swap meet this weekend and never know if I could find a couple of these cheaper than in the magazines. Plus I'm going to be looking for a new bezel. Big Red is giving me one to practice on whenever I get the new gauges. Now where did I keep that $350+ for gauges at

Brandon,

only mechanical gauges are liquid filled. My oil pressure gauge is mechanical. The only other gauge I could have liquid filled is the water temp, but mine is electrical. When I first installed them the oil pressure was electrical also, but it messed up for some reason and I changed it for a mechanical.

All my gauges are mounted from the rear. I think the silver ring you see is made on the bezel itself. The whole gauge is used. I didn't remove anything from them. The bezel is cut so it fits up against the glass part of the gauge.

I love Autometer gauges. And for those of you who dont have them and need new gauges. Its worth the money trust me. Im so happy with these gauges its not even funny. I would never go back to stocks gauges in this truck..... EVER!

And in older vehicle I ever get will get AutoMeter (or something else good VDO... etc.) when they need it.

I will probably do it someday....but not until I get some other goodies I want!! LOL

I am pretty happy with my white faced gauges. But would love to have the Autometer setup..just dont know if I have the patience to do it.

ya Know G...I have really thought about just savin up and getting the whole Dakota Digital Setup in Blue. I love the look of it and really want it bad! But $600 is steeeeeeep~!

I think he means the ones out of Summit But they dont sell the large tach or speedo.

Analog guages are for trucks that give the driver enough time to see the instruments. Digitial guages are for trucks so fast that you don't want to take your eye off the road for a fraction of a second.

73-91 bezels can be used with digital guages.

Thanks Mike I was wondering about that. Another question why did you go electrical on the oil and water? Why not mechanical? I already have mechanical on both of mine but are a cheap set of gauges but much better than stock idiot lights. On the silver ring I'm talking about I saw it on the Autometer website that had pics there with a silver trim ring on them not on the bezel

I have a mechanical oil pressure gauge, but electrical water temp. Yes, the silver trim ring on the gauges stays put. You don't have to remove anything. You can't see it after you get them mounted to the bezel.

I am curious as to how you mounted the autometer gauges. I have had 2 Chevys that I put full Autometer gauges in, but I have always cut out the dash bezel and pushed the gauges in from the front. I now have another truck that I am going to give the Autometer treatment to and I really like the way the mounted from behind setup looks, How'd you fasten the gauges to the bezel?
