Questions on sound deadener??

I've been gutting my entire cab today of all the old "sound deadener" and insulation and was curious what everyone is using in their trucks now days.. I've seen a lot of truck using some with a transformers logo on them, but dont know what brand it is...
My questions are have you guys lined the whole firewall & underdash? What about the rear wall.. i want the cab to keep in the cold a/c and also quite down! But i dont want to get carried away either.. just looking for some help, thanks guys

like http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/100-F...spagenameZWDVW
this?
its called fatmat, and its awesome! good price too.

i did it all except the roof of the cab, also do a one foot square inside the door and a 6x12" piece on the bottom inside of door if you have door speakers. you wont regret it. ive been doing high end installs for years. it works great!

Re: Questions on sound deadener??

I did mine w/Fatmat. It took 50sq. feet to do the firewall, floor, and back wall of the cab. I like it so far. But the truck's not quite ready for the road yet either. I'll know more about how I like it in a couple of weeks. It did get rid of the tin can sound when I close the doors though.

I plan on using Dynomat. I want to keep and much noise and heat out of my truck. I wont be using air at all. Using the old 260 air...2 windows down 60 MPH!

Don't laugh... this is what I used... it's called "peel and seal metal roof patch"
(I've used dynamat before and this seems to do just as well I promise)

We sell Hushmat brand but we have been using peel and seal for several years now. We buy it it 18" widths for $40.00 per roll. it will do the floor boards on almost 2 trucks. it also comes in 3ft widths. They are doing an
auto line soon also. I'm not laughing just saving money

Does that peel and seal smell like asphalt after it has been installed?

Very good question. I would think that if that was made for the roof it might have some sort of asphalt smell. Sooooooooooooooooo the answer is????

Re: Questions on sound deadener??

Mine did for a day or so after installing it (Fatmat). But it went away soon enough. Especially after I glued the foam and carpet in.

Re: Questions on sound deadener??

I have purchased Damplifier but have yet to install. After extensive research at the "sound deadener showdown" site, I feel I'm getting the most bang for my buck.
I work in contractor sales where we carry Grace Vycor window flashing and Ice & Water Shield. I do not believe these products will provide the longevity and performance I am looking for.

Good point Mark. I already own the Damplifier so I don't think I'll Google it and chance a let down.
I'll report back when I get to putting the mats down.

BTW..the UPS dude is probably a bit ticked about packing the box up onto the porch...man, that schtuffs heavy!

Re: Questions on sound deadener??

I tried that peal-n-seal on the roof of my burb (inside ) a few years back and it didn't seem to work worth crap. The "knock-test" failed miserably IMO. Maybe on floors :conf" but I won't be trying it again. Plus it was a nightmare to get off. Just wanted to give my take on it since I got the idea from this site (the one and only bad idea I've run with from here). I'm sure it's better than nothing...

That's a good price price for the square footage.

If I were to do the roof, I think I'd go with a spray on type of material. It'd be just my luck that the stuff would peel off too.
