Hi-Build primer

Being new to the board with no pics it doesn't make this thread very interesting, but promise to have pics of "71" soon with details of my build. But for now my question is how can you tell when enough is enough or not when spraying hi-buil primer over fender and new bedside and rocker? It seems to have a full and even coat over all, I asume that if I still see some sanding marks that another coat may be needed.

Re: Hi-Build primer

Hit it with some kind of guide coat. There are products specifically for that or you could use some cheap black spray paint and mist it on, lightly. Then block it all out with some 320 or 400. Your low/high spots will show up and let ya know how much more to build it up. You might seach youtube for some vid of this.

Re: Hi-Build primer

Makes sense, I did that on my last build but i did it before the hi build. Paint man wanted me to do it first, Probably made his job a lot easier sense car was painted black, This is my first time doing the primer.

Re: Hi-Build primer

Don't count on your primer to hide sanding marks, sounds like you have more sanding to do.

Step gradually to 400 and then prime, no more scratches.

Welcome to the board, enjoy the ride.
