Upper Driver-Side Alt Bracket

Can anyone suggest a good upper driver side alternator bracket? I have been using a lower mount and now switching to upper.

I have headers and so far can only find the arm. ARM Link , but im sure there is more needed to mount it up.

the alternator bolts to the lh exhaust manifold, it also uses this lower bracket ,that goes from the bottom front of the altenatoe to the head.

If you have headers, and or modern heads without the bolt holes tapped in them, you will need to create your own lower bracket.

hmm.. Im using the flowtech headers. Im sure someone already makes a bracket for the complete setup. Thanks!

Are you running a short or long water pump? I run a LWP and I have the 70's-80's set-up with the alt on the upper passenger side...

My truck came with this modified bracket, it only needs head accesory holes:

Mr. Gasket makes an upper alternator bracket, as well as a lower bracket, for both stock exhaust manifolds and headers. I have used both and they work well. I don't have any close-up photos, however you favorite local auto parts store (flaps) will have the line of Mr. Gasket engine dress-up accessories.

The top one bolts to the header studs, and the lower bolts to that and the alternator

The bracket in Anthony Fremont's pic is available regularly on Ebay. I got one for about $25.00 including shipping, for both the cast bracket shown and the top "adjuster" arm.

By the way, the one in the pic above it broken, or at least modified. Actually, I suspect modified. There should be two of those arms that stick up with the holes for mounting the alternator to the bracket. It looks to me like someone along the line cut off the rear one, probably to fit an alt that had a longer mount than would fit in the stocker.

For those with swp and w/o pwr steering, the mr. gasket lower mount works like a charm. I struggled with the typical 'upper' header brackets sold everywhere.

nice engine! nice pic! i couldnt figure out how/where to mount the timing tab. holes on it didnt match up with anything on the cover.

just finished crate motor swap on my '65 last weekend, took lots of photos along the way.

Valvetubehead... Im not 100% positive, but I think a washer goes in between the alt bracket and the block. I previously didnt have it like that and I think that is how the bolt cracked.

Anyone else chime in on that one.

Anyway, I decided to stick with my lower alt brack (same as valvetubeheads). I FINALLY got the broken bolt out and put it back together.
