OK so W.I.W. 70 2WD blazer - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have decided to sell my 2wd blazer before I get 50k tied up in it. I have great plans for it and will settle for nothing less if I were to start it. So after really thinking about it I need to spend that money getting three other vehicles built as semi show vehicles of what can be done in my shop. I have a 5yr plan to get things set up to go full time but I need more then just 67-72's to show people and my 70 lowbuck truck will do that I feel.
So what is a factory 2WD worth in a semi torn down state. It runs and has some brakes but the front sheet metal is not on it right now. The quarters need to be replaced due to damage not rust and I have a set of original blazer quarters that go with it. I also have a 67 complete front end that goes with it as well. What should I ask for this project. Let me know what you think and you will not hurt my feeling.

And it has current reg that has been non-oped so their are no back fees or anything like that just a clean current title.

Then I guess I should also ask what would it be worth with the new quarters and rockers put on, the complete front end so it is a driver. I could prime it, drom it or what ever. I guess I am looking for the best bang for the buck and imput from all you as well.

Asking and getting are 2 totally different animals as you well know.

Then if I go and do any work to it I have a real nice complete crate 350 out of LowBuck with under 10k on it along with a good 350 auto I can drop in. My top is not great but not real good ether and the lift gate is not worth spending the money to take it to the dumps. So would I be better leaving it as a convertable or go with the speedster look. If I sell it soon great but if not I might as well assemble it and sell as a driver of somesort.

Since I (and many others) don't know how to– or have the tools to– install the new quarters, etc. they detract from the price to me. I probably wouldn't pay more than $2,500. If you install the rear quartes, it is closer to a drivable state and I would guess more in the $4,500 range. Put the majority of it back together and in a [semi] drivable stage, than I'd guess $5,500. I think with a weekend of work (having seen your skills) and the parts you have there, you'd see huge selling benefits.

I would think you would have better luck selling it as a driver. If you could fix some of the sheet metal and throw a cheap lowering job on it I think it would sell pretty fast, but who knows. There is a few 2wds on the local craigslist that have been there for a while and they are less than 6k. THey run, drive and look straight, but who know their real condition.

The price has dropped from $8,500 to where it's at now ($6,900) and it's a complete, running and driving 70 2wd. I believe the purple paint is keeping it from selling.

About the purple paint, if it was in EDP primer (or another color) he would sell it
faster. I have had mine for sale for 3 months, alot of tire kickers but no buyers.
I could keep dropping the price but I am a firm believer in it being worth what I
am asking. (This is my opinion and your may differ and that's ok) The more you
put into it the more attractive it will become, however you have to deciede on
wether you are trying to make a profit, or just break even, then go from there.

I don't live in Cali so take this for what its worth.

As it sits now I would think $2500 range. You would probably have an easier time selling if you, as already suggested, R&R the quarters, install the front clip, put a cheap lowering job on it and make it drivable. Most people can justify purchasing a vehicle as long as its in driving condition because they tell themselves they will do a little here and there. This also helps in the pocket book as it is easier to do a little at a time than drop loads of money all at one time. Also us married types usually can't just drag home a non-runner without catching a ton of grief.

Personally installing those quarters would be very intimidating to me but I would get pretty excited if they were already installed.

A decent running 2wd should easily get $5-6k. It would get you even more in my part of the country.

Just for reference, I gave $2500 for my Jimmy with a blown engine. It has zero rust (from Cali), crap paint, crap interior, good top/hatch and 6" spring lift/36x12.50 tires. I had a 307 to drop in but my wife still wined about it. It is now a solid driver and if I was selling it today I would ask $5k here in ohio for it.

May be worth a little more. But if interested this is what I would pay for it: $2500 like it is now OR $4500 with the sheet metal installed, fresh flat black paint, and a good cleaning to everything else.

Well thanks to all who gave their input I do appreciate it. I think for now I will keep the blazer and sell off the other vehicles first that are destine to go. Then I think I will still build the blazer as planned but with a few other tweaks done to it to show case some of my other abilities that I yet to show on this site. This will keep the blazer in my stable (since I have wanted one for only about 15+yrs now) and will still let people know what I can do as well as being one of the baddest 2wd blazers on the road today. Sorry I can not share any details of the plans I have for this blazer because I still plan on it being a full show vehicle first and a street terror after that.

I'm glad your going to keep it. I didn't give any input on the value of your 2wd K5 as I really didn't have the expertise to really give you a good valuation. All I know is you hardly ever see a 2wd K5 around here - come to think of it, I think I've only seen 1! So your decision to keep it is very wise IMO.

Thanks guys I thought it would be easy (mentaly that is) to sell it since I have not realy done anything with it yet. But then I pulled out the build file and started going thru the pages and I just could not pull the plug. So today I put for sale signs on my bone stock, 100% factory, 59K mile, rust free, top never removed, second owner, uncut, dealer installed AC 71 Bronco

It is a great rig that I picked up a few years ago but it is just way too clean and rare (un cut that it) to mess with and I should double my money on it. So I will use some of that money to finish up LowBuck and my son's 51 F1 build and start colecting steel to build my frame table to get this blazer build going. I will be atleast a year before I see my self really starting on it but I will just keep colecting great sheet metal and adding pages to the build file untill that day comes. I really wish I could let the cat out of the bag on the build plans but this is so going to be such an increadable build (if it go as I have it planned) that I can't risk it. I am thinking about doing a DVD of the build it self or atleast all the major parts since I won't be able to post any info on it untill it is done but we will see. I still have a few other DVD's in the works I have never finished that I should get to to help fund this build as well as the Tip and Flip plans. So who knows maybe it will start sooner than later so I can get a few things in the works.
