I have an 04 Silverado z71. This morning it had a flat and I went to change it but the spare tire wouldn't drop... Has anyone had this problem before??

Re: Spare tire carrier problem.
make sure it doesnt need the lock key on the end of the crank rod.it should be in the glove box (if it needs it ) looks like a locking lug nut key but smaller.just a thought

Re: Spare tire carrier problem.
Just an FYI some of these had a problem with the spare being sucked up too tight and bowing the plastic tube you have to stick the rod through to drop the spare. There is an updated extension that is flexable to get it down if all else fails.
