4 speed and NP203?

was a 203 ever offered behind a SM465? im wanting to change my 79 to 4 speed, but dont want to have to change the driveshafts, so im thinking of just having a new chain put in the 203 and run it. i kinda like the lo-loc, lo, hi, hi-loc thing,

Yes, it was. Some people say 1974 only, but it was '73 - '75 era tops and not many were sold. They are out there.

Re: 4 speed and NP203?

I had one in a 73 K5 I parted out.

Check over on pirate. I've seen a few for sale there. I sold my combo for 500.00.

Or you can buy the parts to convert over from ORD or NWF.

You could twin stick an NP205 and get lots of drive options..

Re: 4 speed and NP203?

i think the 79 just changed directions... again . its my farm truck, and i only gave $350 for it, so i dont like putting a huge amount of money in it. i took the transfer case shifter off, cleaned, lubed, and adjusted it, and now you can shift it with 2 fingers almost seems worth just fixing Park in the trans and leaving it as is... put the moolay in my 67-72s instead LOL

its still getting 3/4 ton-d though... the local junkyard agreed to sell me a 14 bolt and 10 bolt, with warn hubs, out of an 83, for $200 if i trade in my 12 bolt and 10 bolt. i have a set of 8 lug whitespokes and 285/75/16s off my k20 i could put on it

edit: this shifter may be the reason for the easy shifting though its a 3 speed floor shift lever bolted to the NP203 shifter assembly
