Angry Sway Bar Doesn't Fit (venting)!!!

I first need to thank Txstruck again for giving me a sway bar. Thanks Steve!! Now to the problem. The bar was off of a van from the 78 or 79 I think. Well I thought along with Steve that it would fit. Well after getting parts to mount in to a never had a bar mounted truck and having a hell of a time getting the right part number for the brackets on the sway bar itself (Thanks Jeremy )I went to mount it today and the bar it too wide where it mounts to the lower arms. So needless to say I'll be selling it at teh swap meet Sat and hopefully getting a one from a truck. Who would have thought the same chasis would be different sway bars??

sorry to do this, but I got too. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Ok again Im really sorry.
See he promised me that sway bar back when he was parting out the van. I was talking to him about it in email. Then I never herd from him again. Sure would have sucked to pay to have t shipped out here and not have it fit!
A swaybar should only run ya about $40 at a junkyard, thats the going rate around here.

LOL Tom. I deserve it. I should have sized it up sooner. Well if you had my luck you would have had trouble for 2 weeks finding the right part numbers for the sway bar brackets. Then you get the right bushings but to open up the 2nd box yesterday to mount the bushings on and the box is right but the bushings are wrong So looks like I'll look for one of those and see about selling this one. Anyone need a sway bar for a van ??

the only other parts on front of van that arent same as pickup are the LCA's and the centerlinks. i have a pickup bar without bushings or brackets id sell cheap if its same diameter as your bushings.

good luck

Someone is supposed to give me a sway bar

You should have bought the Energy Suspension kit from Performance Suspension ($38).

Hey im wondering about a bracket that LMC shows (in their catalog) for the bracket that mounts to the frame. It looks like they have a brakcet that raises the bushing and bushing bracket an inch or so off the frame. Whats up with that? Do I need that? Someone wiht a sway bar please let me know if you have it.

Eddie the sway bar brackets mount to that bracket you're talking about. I got mine from a dealer for $9.49 a piece part #6271375 You could go to a junk yard looking but be wanred that they're hard to take of since they're riveted on. I mounted mine on with 3/8x1 1/2" brage 8 bolts, washer, lock washer and nut. I also was going to get that kit but decided on waiting for a kit since I'll get one with my front end kit (if I ever get it ). I went and got the Moog ply bushings cheap. I also found the brackets from Jeremy part #334671 for a 1 1/16" bar for $4.29? a piece. Those were hard to find.

Yes you got it. The bracket makes the sway bar fit low enough to act right. Also the holes are already there for the bushing U brackets and the frame brackets.

However, if you have a lowered truck, you don't have to use the big brackets off the frame. On a stock or close to stock level, it is best advised that you use the brackets.

Those of us with lowered trucks, especially 4" or more in front should be warned they will hit on things like the concrete parking bump stops. I know this for a fact. Of course so will the front air damn. I've already split mine in the center for this very reason. I'll learn someday to quit trying to get so damn close to these things.

Thumbs up

I got mine installed tonight in the dark and took it for a drive to the SBC meet up. Man what a difference. I took it on some curves and WOW!! I don't have the truck body roll any more!! I love it!!
