Converting 2WD cab to 4WD

Ok guys I have a question. Does anyone have any tips on putting a 2WD cab on a 4WD frame. I heard something about the 2 1/4" spacers for the back of the cab. I also know about putting the large 4WD hump in the 2WD cab. The hole has not been cut in the 2WD cab. Also I heard I will also need to do more work to the floor to make it fit.

Any ideas, suggestions, gripes, or criticism of any kind is welcomed.

Thanks Guys

Hey does anyone have a pic of a 4WD floor without the carpet and stuff???

Bushings are different, cabs are the same except for hump. some also have removable humps as my 83 K30 does, the military 86 K30 M1031 does not.

Re: Converting 2WD cab to 4WD

Well I have brand new poly cab mounts. I bought the whole kit. A guy I sold the parts truck too said I would need to use a 2 1/4" spacer (he used pipe) to get the rear of the cab level. I haven't measured everything but it does seem to be diff. He also said to use a 2" body lift so I wouldn't have to screw with the floor. Thats a little to hokie for me..

I will be doing the cab cut out for sure. When it comes to putting on the new hump, do they make those nuts that stay on the truck so when I bolt the hump down I don't need to be under the truck.

Thanks again,

Great pics by the way thanks they really help

Re: Converting 2WD cab to 4WD

yes i was told same thing, with body lift it
would work but did not get into all
that.as far as the bolts u would have to
weld nuts, myself i just used self tapping
bigger screws,works fine.

Re: Converting 2WD cab to 4WD

Sorry,I don't have any pic's yet,But if you are going to lift the truck at all you just need about a 1 1/2 body lift or lower the transfercase about the same. The cabs are the same except for the hump!!I have done a few in my time and I like the smaller hup for the xtra room.Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Converting 2WD cab to 4WD

Thank to all that replied. I think this will work out fine. I will redo the floor and not deal with the body lift.

Thanks again,

Any and all suggestions and tios still welcome.
