tire and wheel ???'s need pics of wide tires
I can't decide on what tire wheel combo. I want 10-12" of tread on back and not sure on front, but I want the back to be 28-29" tall.
15's or 18's, no 20's. It seems like when the tires get wider they get shorter. Ya'll show me some pics and put the sizes on there so I can decide. Thanks |

I've been looking for the right combo for 17s. 275/50s look great on the rear, and are about 28" tall, but I can't find a matching 28" tall tire for the front that is not quite so wide. 255/50s are a little short for me. 275/55s and 235/65s are close, but about 29" tall. Here's a good tire size calculator to play with. http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp I've found that if you do a search here for the size tires that you're interested in, like 275/50/17 for instance, you will get some good pics.

Re: tire and wheel ???'s need pics of wide tires
275/60 R 15s are 10 inches(ish) wide and 28 inches (ish) tall... depends on who makes the tire. I've seen one marked that sixe be almost 12 inches wide. You'd think with the 275 part of that equation being a simple measurement (275mm) they'd be able to get it right.

Re: tire and wheel ???'s need pics of wide tires
I am on the road so I can't show you pics. But I have P295/60/15 Firestone Indy 500s. They are the right height you ask about and when mounted to a ten inch rim (Weld Pro Stars) they squat to 13 inches wide.

275/60/15's on the front and rear on 8" steel wheels. The front one shouldnt stick out quite that far, frame is bent a little.

Re: tire and wheel ???'s need pics of wide tires
Here is my truck.
Rims are 17 x 8 and 17 x 10 with 4.5BS. Tires on the rear are 285-60-17 and the fronts are 275-50-17 (think that is what the fronts are anyway). There are a few more photos in my build thread below.

Re: tire and wheel ???'s need pics of wide tires
I like this tire calculator as it has backspacing and plus 1 & 2 sizes for taller rims (though some sized are theoretical).
