Re: Went to the Junkyard!!!

By the way....Since I know the manager of the junkyard....he took me to a "staging" area where they drain all the fluids out of the vehicles before they go out on the yard (pretty cool operation!!!)....no customers can go into this area without his escort and all the vehicles are not stripped yet!!!....he had 2 more trucks back there....67 LWB stepper with I6...and a 72 LWB fleet with 350.....I'll be headed out there this week to get some stuff!!!

Re: Went to the Junkyard!!!

I went to a local junkyard on Sat. They had a 70 GMC with a great core support. It was in the area not to be taken apart yet, but the guy said it would be ready later this week.

I also found a A/C control panel I'm gonna snag.

Re: Went to the Junkyard!!!

wow. I loved and hated seeing those pics. Surprising what possibly usable parts are still on them trucks. If only i could be let loose in a yard for 24 hours. I'd have a whole truck ready to assemble. Makes me wanna check out some yards in this area. Though, i know that they seclude old cars and trucks like that and keep em for people they know and themselves. It's better to drive down south a state or two and pickup what i need.

Re: Went to the Junkyard!!!

There still around here but finding anything that still holds anything older than 90s you better call ahead. there are a few in the Portland Oregon area though. If your travel a few miles west you might just find the whole trucks still sitting the the yard in better condition then some that are on the road.......Gotta love the junk yards!
