Eaton ho52 Rear Axle
Anyone have any idea what kind of rear end that is? Like is it a limited slip, tru trac or what? I'm new to this whole thing and not as well versed in truck parts as most people here so sorry if it's a dumb question. Also what kind of horsepower could it stand up to? Looking to do a lil build on my truck as i'm sure some of you already know I just don't want to blow out the rear end doing it.

Re: Eaton ho52 Rear Axle
AFAIK, there are only two differentials available for that...."open" and "No-Spin". No-spin is essentially a Detroit locker.
The real issue with them is in gear ratio selection. There aren't many to choose from and they are all pretty low. It's fairly tough, I don't think that will cause you a problem, if you can get a gear that you can live with. |

Re: Eaton ho52 Rear Axle
I've heard the same thing, HO's came in 4.10 and 4.56 only. I have one in my C20, has 4.10's (but no limited slip).

Re: Eaton ho52 Rear Axle
What gears will fit it best depends on the tranny. Most of them though 3.73's work well. Except on a wide ratio and such could make it interesting...

Re: Eaton ho52 Rear Axle
If it helps at all, I currently have 30" tall tires, and 4.10's, go about 3100 rpm at 65. My next order of business (this summer I hope) will be 27" inchers on 3.42/posi, which I believe will cut me down to about 2600 rpm @ 65 mph.

Re: Eaton ho52 Rear Axle
that's not bad kcjones. Could someone tell me how I go about exactly identifying which rear end it is? Like since these Eaton HO52s apparently didn't come in 3.73s how do I find out which axle it is?
