"Be Cool" questions

I'm trying to fit a "Be Cool" radiator into our project truck but I'm having issues using stock mounts. The lower 4 core saddles seem to work fine but neither the 3 core or 4 core upper brackets will work. Has anyone installed one of these and what did you use for mounts?

Re: "Be Cool" questions

I have used them before and had the same problem. There radiators are a little thicker for the 4 core mounts. I just trimmed and shaved the rubber mounts and it worked fine and you couldn't even notice

My issue is the height....the top mounts won't sit down on the core support

Re: "Be Cool" questions

I had a similar problem with my Griffin Radiator. I had to trim my core support and modify my upper brackets. It fits well now, but takes up all the available room for it. I also removed the steel supports from the bottom supports using only the rubber peices to support the bottom. The fan shroud keeps it securely in place

My truck stays cool even on the hottest of days.

I just did the same thing with the saddles and I can get the uppers on that way....but it looks like it will take some trimming on the uppers to make it "Right"

Re: "Be Cool" questions

I am watching this thread. I was going to order a new Be-Cool but I wanted it to fit "nice". Could you not machine some nice spacers to make the upper mounts fit nice on the rad support? Is the rubber inserts to thick?

Re: "Be Cool" questions

I had to trim the top mounts and the rubber spacers as well. If you were to build spacers to go under the top mounts the fan mounts would be way off!

It does look like spacers would work- IF you're using something other than the mount to mount your fan assembly. My fan assembly mounts with different brackets that hook over the top and bottom of the radiator....so I think I could get away with spacers. But a fan mount like the one above won't work with the spacer

Re: "Be Cool" questions

I have a "Be Cool" radiator that I have fitted up to a 68 core support frame. I had to do a liittle changing to the lower mount to get the bracket to shift slightly sideways to form to the weld ribs. The upper brackets, did have a little height problem, but I made some billet aluminum upper supports that fit the core real well. These uppers had to have a little more material in them to raise their mounting point a little on the core support, so that they would align squarely with the core tanks. A factory set would need a little spacer help to get them to mount square. This can be done with aluminum "Mill" strap material fro a local hardware supply.

My machine shop buddy gave me the first two for free, but I would have to ask him if he would make more and what his price would be.

Re: "Be Cool" questions

Jon the mounts are in the box. The l-brackets bolt on the top and run across the core support and you drill them them into the core support and it holds the upper, they are in the box.

Re: "Be Cool" questions

Hello, You would have to cut the factory rubber mounts and use a universal mount from trans-dapt. This is what Stacey did on Trucks! - You would however have to fab some upper elec fan mounts though if you go that rout. *Billit upper mounts - count me in for a set.

The mounts pictured are rounded because I am going to run electric fans They can have a square shoulder left on the outer end and be drilled and tapped for a small stud. That way if you want to use the factory shroud and a fan, then you could mount it like the original. However, I will turn you on to the guy that made these for me, if you want his website and address. If I were to get in the middle of this, it would make them priced to high. I will graciously eliminate myself as the middle man and save everyone the dollars. These mounts use the factory rubber radiator mounting pieces and work quite well.

Re: "Be Cool" questions

Why yes I can. The gentleman that made these brackets has two CNC machines in a shop behind his house. He makes things for all different kinds of vehicles and street rods. He has a couple of different billet aluminum instrument panels and a billet glove box lid that he is working on for the 67-72 Chevy trucks. His name is Charlie Timmons and he lives not far from me, in Wichita, Kansas. He works his machining business as a second investment and does it in his spare time. His website is http://timmonsbillet.com/ . Take a look---I am not sure if he has the radiator brackets listed or not, but he and I have an understanding that I have no claim to the design, he can make them for his business. Call him and tell him what you are interested in and then tell him that Frank Seeney passed you on to him.
