Window vent Placement?

Hey guys, I need some help with a weekend warrior project. I'm replacing the weather stripping and channel felt in my truck. I figured out how to get the window vent our, and replace the dried up stripping.

My problem is at the "installation is the reverse of removal" part. I can get the assembly back in the door and alllmost in place, but the three vent screws are off their holes by about 1/4 inch in each direction. I've checked to make sure nothing is pinching, folding, or blocking, but I just can't seem to ram that assembly in.

Any tricks or ideas? I was hoping to drive it this weekend, but that doesn't look like it's happening now.

you shouldn't have to "ram" it in, it aint no virgin. When I changed mine it just went back into place. Double check and make sure there are no obstructions.

Hi Kixwy2, don't want to hijack your thread but could you tell me how got the vent rubber seated in the track? I'm doing this but can't seen to get it seated around the bend.

I think I got it - some of the rubber was stuck in the door jamb. That and a spreader bar did the trick.

Lube. Lots and lots of silicone lube. Seriously though, it helped a lot. I started with my bend up a little higher than the actual curve, and once I got the rubber seated into the channel, I shoved the whole rubber portion down into place - then fit the short straight section and the longer wing section. Once that was in, I riveted in the backside length. and then riveted in the L channel to the regulator channel.

It took a while, and I had to help some of the rubber channel in with a jeweler's screwdriver.

The lack of instructions sucked too - we ought to make a manual... "What the Haynes Manual Doesn't Tell You".
