AN fuel fitting question
I need some fittings to finish off my fuel cell. I don't know if the fitting on the tank is an 8n or 10n. Does anyone on here have the outside measurement for either of these so I can check before I order the fittings...

8 AN = 1/2" metal tube O.D. with 3/4"-16 threads
10 AN = 5/8" metal tube O.D. with 7/8"-14 threads here ya go ... AN Chart - tube & threads |

One way I remember to convert AN to inch is:
Example, Take the -8 and make it 8/16, break that fraction all the way down to 1/2" Take the -10 and do the same. 10/16 break down the fraction to the lowest which is 5/8. It works with every AN. Just add the /16 to it, then break it down. Last edited by sandking; 06-14-2008 at 11:51 PM. |

I just noticed the chart posted by Shane. Same thing, but if you dont have the chart available, you can easily figure it out with the fraction break down.

Trust me, You'll spend a fortune on fittings anyway. Braided fittings and hoses are like a drug,very addictive.I've got a braided radiator hose that I've had in use for 25 years.It's expensive,but worth it.The stuff just doesn't wear out,and looks great.

I can't take credit for the chart. I found it on the Web some time back and posted the link.
Also remember what putting the AN number over 16 then dividing / reducing ONLY gives you the TUBING SIZE ... NOT the thread size. |

Check out your local hose/pipe shop. Their fittings are much cheaper than buying them from one of the auto manufacturers. They wont be all pretty and anodized, but who cares from your cell to filter.
