Re: Delay wiper module

It's black with an aluminum heat-sink and is mounted cross-wise to the underside of the of the steering column right behind the lower dash cover panel. To remove it simply grasp it and slide it straight up the column then disconnect the wiring harness's at either end of it.

Re: Delay wiper module

Can a non-delay be made a delay wiper by replacing the switch and adding the heat sink?

I did. Picked up a column from a 1984 Blazer along with the module and added both to my 1980 C-10. I had to sort out the wiring, for mine the wire colors matched. Eliminated to dash switch and use the column mounted switch from the Blazer column. Works great.

Re: Delay wiper module

Bob, the answer is yes, thats how GM did it. Wiper motor is the same. You'll have to change the signal light lever also. jim

The worst thing you could do is get into my sights, but that don't matter, you'll never know it, cause you'll never hear the shotJim or Paladin whichever you choose.

Re: Delay wiper module

I looked in to that at a local parts store and they couldn't find a listing. I think it will have to be bought from a dealer. I ended up finding one at a local pull-a-part and got lucky...it worked.

Re: Delay wiper module

Kinda makes me wonder what other vehicles had this style of delay on them it might open up the possibilities of finding one in a junk yard in another restoration catalog (ie: Classic Industries Camaro). Does anyone have a picture of one installed on a column? I have recently bought a tilt column and it has the delay turn signal lever but I see no delay module on it.

Re: Delay wiper module

I'm even kind of wondering if one can simply not use the delay module and just plug the 2 harnesses into one another. Can you do this? I don't really need delay wipers anyway; I just want wipers that work! Can you use the wipers without the delay and just replace the module when you feel like, or is it best to replace it right from jumpstreet?

Re: Delay wiper module

I'd imagine that any 80's -90's GM product with the same style column would have the same unit.

Sure you just won't have any delay is all.
