What did you get done? 06/15 Fathers Day edition

I worked this this weekend so I didn't get much done. I did the usual of cleaning up daily drivers. Saturday night I went to the local car cruise and checked out the local rods and rides.

Today I went to church early, then lunch at Olive garden. I spent the afternoon cleaning out the garage. I have to make a spot for my daughters car to fit inside. I got a lot done, but I still have to get the 84 Z-28 on the ground so I can sell it. I hate to see it go, but it's time to make room.

I spent the week vacationing in San Diego with the family. The weather has been great and we've done alot of fun stuff.
I did manage to sneak off by myself on friday and drove up to Pomona to the So-Cal Speed shop open house. I got a couple autographs and had alot of fun lookin at the rods.
I posted a link to the pics here:

Hit the local Friday night car show myself, but there wasn't a very good turn out since it just quit raining about an hour before showtime. Too bad, because I was hoping to get to see a sick square body stepside that I caught a glimpse of last week before I had to leave.

Other than that, I haven't done much of anything. It was great.

Re: What did you get done? 06/15 Fathers Day edition

thursday last i went upstate to my home up there and spent the weekend just vegging with the wife and granddaughter. We had a long talk, my wife and i, and weve made some difficult decisions. While business is good and we are making money , things are a tad tight for us cause we do like to take care of our family to some point and with the one step daughter starting to drive and the other one ( our granddaughters mom) having some financial difficulties of her own we decided that it was time to take some time off from doing the restore on our 82 and to park it up there and save some gas money and we are prolly going to hold off doing anything real expensive on it until next year. Getting only 8 or 9 mpg on a good day just doesnt cut it and our daily driver van getting 17 combined is also hurting so we are trying to cut as many costs as we can, so once again im kinda down a truck but its for the best.. we did get a line on a cheap daily driver we are going to start driving but its not exactly my kind of car to save gas but hey that was my weekend

Still putting finishing touches on the lowrider. Motor is real strong.

Shot a short vid of the engine idling this afternoon. It's a pretty big file so you'l have to download it. Going to the muffler shop in the morning for new exhaust. My RAT Rod Paint from Eastwood should be here tomorrow so we'll be prepping the truck for paint next week.

You can find the vid here: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=279281&page=2

Re: What did you get done? 06/15 Fathers Day edition

I roamed all weekend... Went to the local little league games Friday night (since I'm a Lion's Club baseball committee member). I woke up early Saturday and swapped the wheels on my 84 (swithched from Cragars & BFG's to my 1999-vintage 17" Eagles for a couple weeks) then went ATV riding for the rest of the day. Followed up by hitting the local dirt-track for some night time roundy-round racing. Today, I cleaned on the Eagles a little, detailed my daily driver and tackled the yard.

Re: What did you get done? 06/15 Fathers Day edition

I played around on the 6.0 swap for the 68. It seems the sbc Dropmember just doesn't want the 6.0 in there @ all. The MM towers are @ a weird angle vs. the adapter plates, the coils would have to be relocated, & I just can't see the truck intake clearing the firewall/cowl.

So, the choices are cut the mm tower tabs to relocate them @ the right angles; make new mm towers, or try different adapters. Oh yeah, there's one other option..... stick the 350/700r4 back in & concentrate on other crap.

Of course this weekend is the first official day that we were into the 3-digit temps & it flat wears you out.

There ya go. Quit jacking with it and move along. You have plenty of places to put that 6.0....

Re: What did you get done? 06/15 Fathers Day edition

Made a junkyard run Saturday morning, went looking for a sway bar setup. Didn’t realize the frame brackets would be riveted, so I’ll go back next week with my trusty sawzall.

Hit the local cruise-in Saturday night, weather was perfect.

Spent Sunday hanging out with the wife and kids. I did manage to get started on a console for the DD.

Early for you, maybe, but you can bet that they were waiting.

I layed more patio bricks, put silver coat on the roof and put another clear coat on the tail band. (Just to do something on the truck.) Oh yea, I helped a friend move to a 3rd floor apt, my achin' back is killing me!

Re: What did you get done? 06/15 Fathers Day edition

Saturday I went to car gathering at old drive in burger joint, and truck started to run funny, it started bogging down a little, and then it stoped so I left it loan until I was going home it started missing when I would give it gas and would almost die, and every trafic light I went by I got a red light and was afraid that it was going to die and I couldn't get it started, because it was in a bad part of town and it was almost midnite, so I made it home, and the next day I bought new plugs and ajusted the carb it ran I lot better, maybe I'll change the fuel filter , but its only 8 months old, and adjust the timin, I also went to a car show Tuesday at taco Casa I won first place in the 70-80 trucks there was 2 other square bodies and a couple 67-72 short beds, if any body wants to join me, its the 2nd Tuesday of each Month from 5to9 and its located at 6110 Broadway Blvd. Garland

Re: What did you get done? 06/15 Fathers Day edition

I haven't posted here in a while, so I'll guess I'll say hi here! I got a new position at work a year ago and was traveling all the time, but fortunately I am back at one location . I was on vacation to celebrate my recent engagement in Hilton Head all last week, spent father's day with my dad when I returned on Sunday and cleaned up a little in the garage. I planned on tinkering with one of the projects, but got side tracked with helping the neighbor replace a power window assembly in their 96 SS Impala. I also found out that he has a brand new set of rims for that car still in the GM boxes, so I might try to work something out there. Been playing around with a new website for my builds which is coming along slowly, but nicely.
