Heater blows !

My heater won't blow hot air it's been working fine and just quit blowing hot air not even warm air. I've checked all I know to check. Cable connections seem to be hooked up and working, the flapper valve seems to be opening and closing. The fan blows hard and the A/C works fine. Anybody have any tips or advice ? The heater core has not leaked anywhere so I assume it's ok ..

Thanks
John

The heater core doesn't have to leak to mean there is something wrong with it. It sometimes becomes clogged. Try flushing it if you can. Good luck. It sucks when you're heater doesn't work.

If you have Air ,check the heater vacuum control valve , one quick check is when the engine is Hot see is there is a difference in Temp by feeling the inlet heater hose ,and the outlet hose coming from the heater core ,if the outlet hose is cooler going to the valve ,mostlikely the valve is bad.

Good luck

I know of a few times that happened to me and it ended up being real low on coolant.

Cool Heat

It could be a couple of things as stated above.

1. Low coolant.
2. Vacuume valve not opening.
3. Thermastat not shuting and letting water temp to build.

Have you had any other problems with it lately, it could even be a water pump going bad and not pumping the coolant through the system, highly unlikely but possible, if it were you would notice the engine temp. rising in less it's already got cold enough for it to keep the engine from over heating, it would act like a thermastat problem.
Hope this helps

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Thanks guys! The heater valve is only a year old not saying it's not bad though and the stat is 2 months old . I just flushed the rad and topped it off, coolant level was right on before I drained it. The truck has not been running hot so I don't think it's the water pump, and the hoses are hot to the touch after driving so it could be the heater core gone bad. Thanks guys for the GREAT TIPS !! I'll keep testing ( replacing ) things till it's fixed. I'll keep you posted

If it happened after you emptied and refilled the system could be an airlock in the heater core.

Both heater hoses are hot?????
If both are hot, you have a blend door problem. Air is not being passed through the heater core! Double check the cable's leading to the blend door, could even be a broken door (rod seperated from the metal door).

The heater quit before I flushed the rad and the level was full before I drained it. The hose going to the heater valve is hot after running and the heater return line is warm to the touch. The blending door opens and closes properly checked it Friday. I think I'm going to flush the core and see what comes out..

THANKS
JOHN

John , You might also want to make sure you have Vacuum at the heater valve , also I have bypassed the valve with a4" piece of 1/2"copper pipe to trouble shoot problems with the heater.
