Photos of my 64 C10 Short/Fleet

I have finally joined the modern world and learned how to post photos, so I thought I'd share a couple of my ride. I bought this truck in 1995, and have put about 60,000 miles on it since that time. Other than a drivetrain upgrade from 250 I6/non-synchro Saginaw 3-sp to a 350 V8/heavy duty Muncie 3-sp, and new wood in the bed, I bought the truck pretty much as seen in these photos I took last night.

EDIT: Bed photo taken last summer when I finished the new wood.

Re: Photos of my 64 C10 Short/Fleet

Thanks for the kind words guys. I'm currently working on installing an 18" clutch fan and fabbing a shroud big enough to house it. Hopefully that will clean up the engine compartment a bit. I have a new fan coming to replace the junkyard special in the photo.

Yes, it's a Muncie 3-speed. According to the casting numbers, it's from a 71 Chevelle with big block. I moved the shifter to the floor with a Hurst Master Shift unit. I've been real happy with it. Having synchros on all gears is nice, it's a much smoother and quieter transmission, and first gear is taller, which I like.

Interesting... we don't imagine 71 Chevelles with big blocks and three-speeds, but all sorts of combinations could be ordered back in the day. Again... nicely done!

Nice truck. My Dad had a 65 that color when I was a kid. Wish he still had it...

What did you use to finish the wood in the bed? I like the black color of the wood. Is the wood pine or oak or something else?

Very nice truck. Looking at the interior reminded me to ask..........How does the horn button fit to the steering wheel? I have 2 buttons and 1 wheel, but I must be missing a piece.....the horn button just sits there and falls out. Anybody?

It's oak, painted with one coat of Sherwin Williams exterior oil-based primer, and two coats of Sherwin Williams oil-based semi-flat black exterior paint.

Nice looking truck, Mike. Funny, but the fan is the one thing I didn't like. I'm going electric puller on my burb. Cleaner look, better cooling and much less chance of taking a finger off!

I actually found a clutch fan from a Chevelle over the weekend that fits inside the stock shroud, so I re-assembled it that way. It seems to work OK, but agreed that electric fans are a neater solution.
