Re: help bad wheel hop

Simple "slapper" type traction bars. Cheap and somewhat effective. They are not the greatest thing, but they do work. The dis-advantage is that they will not work with lowering blocks, but if you have lowering blocks, they are probably causing the problem anyway.

Leaf or coil suspension? It makes a difference on parts/mods recommendations.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

If its got leaf spring suspension that is where your problem lies. Like the other guy said traction bars would be your best bet assuming you don't have blocks under it. Make sure you get the traction bars that attach from your axle clamp base back to the frame, they are better than the cheap bars that clamp to to the leaf springs.

The other (more expensive) option would be to convert to the trailing arm rear suspension of the Chevy's. If you could find a 67-72 Chevy truck with the coil spring setup to use in a junk yard on the cheap it would probably be your best bet for a reasonable cost. Add $300 for springs and shocks to the cost of the junk yard parts and a few careful cuts, measurements and welds later and you have a great setup for traction and handling.

Re: help bad wheel hop

I just assumed leaf.....wheel hop with coils and 4 foot long truck arm doesn't seem to likely.
Besides, isn't the standard for GMC leaf, w/coils as option, just the opposite of Chevys.
