Engines missing when started
I have an 86 Silverado with a 400 sb and a q-jet with a manuel chock. When I don't start it for 3 or 4 days it misses when I first start it for about a minute or two then it smoothes out. I just had the q-jet rebuilt thinking it was the problem but it still doing it.Any ideas what else it could be? Tks

Re: Engines missing when started
Hay Curly. You have answered your own question. You need 3 things for an engine to run right. A sound mechanical assembly, good fuel mixture and good ignition. You have the first 2, so whats left? Ignition. From what you describe, sitting for a few days, I would check over the cap, rotor and wires. With engine idleing, use a spray bottle with water in it and spray them down. Check the bottom of the rotor visually if you have an HEI distributor, you may find a clean spot near the center hub on the bottom of the rotor where it blew through. jim

Little stuff left to do is mount winch, wet sand & buff out and build belly pan\running boards. Body work takes lots and LOTS of beer!!!! God, Guts and Guns made America and God, Guts and Guns will preserve it! The worst thing you could do is get into my sights, but that don't matter, you'll never know it, cause you'll never hear the shotJim or Paladin whichever you choose. |
