Remote master cylinder mounted under dash
I hope I have posted these pictures correctly. I have always wanted to remotely mount my master cylinder. I purchased a Kugel 90 degree mount and a ABS remote fill master cylinder and fabricated the mounts. Here are a few pictures, no clean up work has been done yet. I had to straighted out the pedal because it was to far to the right for my tastes. It clears the bottom of the wiper motor by about a 1/4 inch but all the lines will clear fine. |

Re: Remote master cylinder mounted under dash
Thanks for the kind comments. I am leaning toward mounting the remote container in the glove department. I have always planned on making a panel and installing my fuse box in there and there will be room for the remote fill container. Still thinking about it though. The main factor is it has to be above the master cylinder and that doesn't leave many places. I'm doing a smooth cowl so that would not work. I have seen them mounted on the firewall but that defeats my purpose of installing everything under the dash. IMO the key to this is the ABS master cylinder, it offers much more pressure for the brake system then the standard boosters.

Speaker grill, huh. I hadn't thought of that. I did look at the RS defrost vent though. Good idea, thank you.

Re: Remote master cylinder mounted under dash
The master cylinder comes from ABS. A company in California. They have numerous sizes to choose from, their link is: http://www.abspowerbrake.com/
Also the kugel reverse mount 90 degree under dash mount is from: www.kugelkomponents.com Good luck, The system is outstanding, if you check out Trucks copperhead you will find Stacey David used the master cylinder system on that truck. |

Re: Remote master cylinder mounted under dash
Thanks for the great links, just a few questions though the one link you sent me for the Master Cylinder, there are so many to choose from do you know which one I can use with the 90 degree setup? Also how did you purchase your setup was it with pedal assembly and all? They have a few options and was wondering how you did yours? Thanks Again!

Re: Remote master cylinder mounted under dash
You can use any of them with the Kugel product. I purchased my as pedal and all. If I remember correctly there are two different length pedals and I went with the shorter length. I have a automatic so, of course, only needed the brake pedal. On the purchase of a master cylinder, Call them, They are extremely knowledgable and helpful.

Re: Remote master cylinder mounted under dash
Hey Thanks Again! I went on there and checked the prices for the 90 degree and you know what not a bad price at all for that thing just the kit alone with pedal was like $300.00 obviously not including the master cylinder and booster, but like you said you can get them from the other spot. Also wondering what made you go with a different Master and not the one from Kuegel?

Re: Remote master cylinder mounted under dash
As you can see space is very tight for me. With a ABS system I can mount the booster anywhere I want to. There is definitely no room for a booster without removing my wiper motor. Also with the remote fill I can mount the reservoir elsewhere.

Re: Remote master cylinder mounted under dash
wow ya that is a tight spot. that would be cool if there was a way to move the wiper motor, but that might be a lil tricky
