Anyone put a Ford 9" Rear in their C10?
I have a Posi disc brake Ford 9" laying around that I am considering putting in my 67. Anybody done the swap or have any suggestions or pointers?

Re: Anyone put a Ford 9" Rear in their C10?
just did it. Some ECE saddles makes it an easy swap. I used a disc rear from a 75 lincoln. All I need do now is see if I switch the parking brake cables from my 12 bolt and have the drive shaft shortened.

Re: Anyone put a Ford 9" Rear in their C10?
I have one in mine.I'm Chevy to the core, but it's hard to beat the 9" for durability, availability of parts, and easy to change out chunks for different gear ratios etc. I've got 3:70 gears,Auburn pro-series posi,Moser 31 spline axles,Strange nodular center,Aerospace rear disc brakes, and a billet steel yoke.So far,I've never had a problem.

Re: Anyone put a Ford 9" Rear in their C10?
Wow, looks like it's more popular than I thought! I found an article from classictrucks about this exact swap. They mentioned ECE as other members have as the source. The article says ECE even has a solution for the panhard bar with their super track kit.
Here's the link: http://www.classictrucks.com/tech/03...wap/index.html Here's what I found for the Super Track kit from ECE: http://earlyclassic.com/catalog.aspx?ProductId=1032

I always thought the GM 12-Bolt was a desirable unit? Is the version in our trucks not so good?

axels are tapered and not enough splines = weak diff.

Re: Anyone put a Ford 9" Rear in their C10?
Yep, it's hard to find a tougher rear end than the 9". Although I have seen a few of them torn up too. But not near as many as 12bolts. The 12 bolts are great rears until you start socking a lot of torque to them in a heavy vehicle.
Should be a fairly simple swap with the saddles and panhard bar kit from ECE. Jay

Re: Anyone put a Ford 9" Rear in their C10?
I suppose I'm thinking of car applications where Nines are typically 28 spline small bearing versions.

Re: Anyone put a Ford 9" Rear in their C10?
12 bolts are great rear axles when compared to others...except the Ford 9"...they're almost bulletproof. There's a reason why most serious drag racers use them.

Re: Anyone put a Ford 9" Rear in their C10?
I have one in my 1969. Just look for my post as it has pictures of it. I used the purch from a 12 bolt and a panhard bar bracket from a 12 bolt that came out of a 1965 chevy 1/2 ton.

Re: Anyone put a Ford 9" Rear in their C10?
I'll be putting a 31 spline 9 inch in my blazer someday, the 12 bolt in it has been a lot of trouble.
