Intro and some pics
Hello all, I have been lurking around here for the last couple years. I had joined after picking up a '64 C10 but never really got going on that project. A couple weeks ago I figured I would finally start on it and picked up the front suspension and rear end from a '74 C10. The day after that I ran across a deal on a '68 C10 that I could not pass up. '68 is my favorite year truck so I figured I would put my time and money into that one and sell the '64.
About 10 years ago I had another '68 C10 that I put a 350, 700R4 and dropped it 2.5"/4". It had 275/60-15's all around. I shaved the door handles, in cab fuel tank and grafted in a late model fuel door for the saddle tanks. The interior was done in grey tweed and a Dakota Digital dash. It drove great, handled even better and got 20+ mpg on the highway. I ended up selling it and my '69 Camaro when I started building a Austin Healey kit car. Looking back, not a great idea. Oh well. Since then I have had a number of other projects, including a Pro-Touring style '69 Camaro. That car rocked but was sold during my divorce. I also have a '98 C1500 parts hauler truck, a fiberglass '27 Model T roadster project and a '30 Model A 2 door Sedan body with a 6" chop. The T and A are both long term projects. Well, here are some pics of my current '68. It was a one owner, fairly original and unmolested truck. The owner did swap the 327 for a 350 but still has the TH400, PS and PB, AM radio that still works and just about zero rust. It runs and drives well but I will make it better. I am going to start with dropping it, disc brakes and swapping the rear end. I'll post more pics as I start doing some work on it. Thanks for reading, now some pics...

Re: Intro and some pics
Actually the boards that line up with the wheel wells were removed but the ones between the wheel wells are still there. They need replacing but my goal is to swap to a steel floor bed as I have never really liked wood floors for trucks that will haul stuff. The are very pretty for show trucks though.

Re: Intro and some pics
that's a really clean looking truck. Wish we could find sheet metal like that here in the mid west.
at least with a start like that you can focus on the fun mods instead of worrying about fixing rust. welcome to the board! |

Re: Intro and some pics
Hey Mike,WELCOME!! To posting on the website, not lurking or the automotive scene.Nothing new there for ya.Sounds like you like to play and I can`t wait to see what you do with the`68...or the`64,if you`re keeping it.Most guys look at subscribing here like subbing to a magazine...only better, cuz it`s interactive and totally specific.
It`ll be cool to see where you go with this truck. It`s such an empty canvas being a low-option truck vs starting with all the General`s goodies.Yet,a V8/auto already. It`s all up to you and I`m sure will be a nice transition.I like`em all from bone stocker to full-blown customs (usually).
