One piece drive shaft
I know people that have done this. But never seen it. Can a 73 to 87 drive shaft take place of a 2 piece?

Ummm... not sure about the fit from those models but I have a custom made one from the local Potter Webster Company (driveline express). When i lowered my '71 c10 The carrier bearing blew out and kept doing it until i was smart enough to figure out that it was cramming the rear shaft into it lol... oh well. The one I had made is a 3.5" and goes right through the x-member no problems...

From 73 to 87 GM used many different size/length drivelines depending on wheelbase and power-train options, unfortunately nobody in the driveline industry publishes this info.
 Is there one that will swap directly into your truck?... It's possible, the only way to tell is to measure your truck and find one that fits, or failing that one that's longer and have it chopped. Anything out of an 81+ will use 3r or saginaw style u-joints, so you will have to run a conversion joint (3r/1310) to couple it with the spicer style pinion yoke in your truck (assuming stock rearend). Good luck, remember the tape measure is your friend  .
