How do you feel about...
I was wondering what all of you think about turbochargers on these engines. I know the look of the roots blowers are amazing, but more and more of the new chevy engines have turbos or even twin turbos. What is your take, turbocharge or supercharge?

There a more if you search the actual posts rather than just the titles. There are lots of transmission topics, but you should find some discussions.

I'm a turbo guy and a firm believer in forced induction.

Re: How do you feel about...
when i go to the world street nationals Many of the fastest cars there are now turbo motors. they just seem to have many problems getting them right. but that is the most extreme example.
if you have the time and money to play with "adding" a turbo to you sb bb chevy hell yes its just alot more areas of concern then a super being crank to intake. alot of farts and burps tuning. intercoolers, blow out valves, egt, lag, times of negative boost, but now you can buy crate motors already turbo equipped.

Re: How do you feel about...
I've been saying for a long time that I want to build a 377 SBC (de-stroked 400) with a small turbo and a close ratio 5 spd. Being able to rev to 7+k RPM means the turbo will be building boost whenever I want it to = dangerous on a road course. Now that im thinking about it, I've always wanted to put a SBC in an FC Rx-7 or one of the mid 70's 240/260 Nissan Z's....
So many ideas, so little money. lol. Turbo's really are they way to go in this day and age IMO (Unless you want the cool factor/brute grunt of a 6-71 sticking through the hood (which my 496 will get when it gets torn down in several years). Dont spool up while driving around and enjoy the gas mileage/ extremely quick power curve profile when you want it. Its a more complicated system that roost S/C of course, but they can be built out of junkyard parts and your own fabrication without spending an arm and a leg and theres nothing to them once you really loot at how they work. Are you planning on building one Michael23v?

Re: How do you feel about...
If you have the money, but a turbo set-up and have it tuned at a speed shop, less aggrivation and more fun time.
I had twins in my 911 and it put out about 535 hp, from my experience, they are pretty easy to tune with the right gauges, some reading and listening. I think you'll like a turbo system, I know I did. I still miss it, I just sold it about 2 months ago, me and 500+ hp don't work to well on the street, between a few close calls and wanting to use as much of the HP as I could, it was pro-active instead of re-active

Re: How do you feel about...
Go for it... My friend won Hot Rod Drag week with a ProCharged Camaro.. Drove the car 1500 miles in 5 days and ran an average ET of 7.64... Car runs on pump gas... Race gas was used at the tracks when the boost was thrown to it... He averaged 8 MPG pulling a trailer with extra tires and parts.. Not bad for a 580 cubic inch motor.. I am looking to ProCharge or turbo charge my 66 Chevy II...
