crossmember question...please shed some light

I am about to shorten my LWB to a SWB and I have a question about the rear crossmember where the driveshaft comes through. When I remove the 12 inches from under the cab, the crossmember will move under the cab the same length. I am good with that and was all set until I saw the article on ECE's website where they had to weld their crossmember in after shortening their frame. Just wondering if I am going to have to do that or not. I don't see why I should have to, but maybe I am missing something. FWIW, if I have to reposition it, I am swaping to a dropped version anyway. Was just curious if anyone had some insight so that I could plan ahead.

Thanks,

Re: crossmember question...please shed some light

If you section your frame under the cab and ahead of the t-arm cross member- you should be fine. Granted you will need to reposition your rear cab mounts 12" back. However if you don't want to lift and or remove your cab for the surgery the frame can be sectioned under the bed, in which case you'll need to relocate the x-member to account for the shorter wheelbase.

Re: crossmember question...please shed some light

thats what i was thinking. as long as the cuts were made forward of the x-member, everything should be fine. Appreciate the input!
