HID Headlights for our trucks
Looks like I will be installing a true HID headlight into both my C/K30 project and my K5.
I found a really decent price ( http://www.dirtlights.com/ ) and he has a set up for our round headlights (Chevy) that is street legal, with a HID High Beam and a halogen low beam. Should be interesting. I'll post pictures here when I get them and do a review. Thoughts? Last edited by FormerMember; 06-25-2008 at 08:04 PM. |

Re: HID Headlights for our trucks
Maybe I'm missing something, but those units from "Dirtlights" look like bolt-on driving lights, not replacement headlights. When I make the jump to HID I will probably get the ones shown in the link. They are about a franklin more than what your looking at, but are a direct, plug-n-play replacment for your old sealed beams.

We also have a 7" kit that does not include the housing. The 7" will fit in any CJ or FJ40 to retrofit you headlights. |

Re: HID Headlights for our trucks
The lenses shown are not DOT. Also check your local regs to see if the actual installation is legal. The HID's bulbs might be DOT approved replacements, but it is not legal to install them in certain states unless the vehicle came with them from the factory. There are several of us who have looked at marketing HID's very hard and have decided not to do it due to DOT regulations and liabilty reasons.
